UX/UI Designer

Background

APAX Software is a growing Inc. 5000 company that provides custom software development.

As a key member of our team, you'll take on challenging situations as you work alongside a multi-talented and enthusiastic group of designers, developers, marketing and branding professionals.

Together, we get to create, iterate, and launch projects across a variety of industries. And we have a lot of fun along the way!

Location

REMOTE, Contiguous U.S., with a hub in Lexington, KY.

Who You Are

You are a talented and driven designer, ready to work directly with clients and lead hands-on projects from the ground up.  From leading research and requirements gathering to presenting site maps, sketches, and designs to a client, all the way to launch, you're a strong, creative problem-solver who has a knack for making complex things simple and intuitive.  You’re a cheerleader for the user, guided by customer data and business needs, and know how to work with others to drive ideas into reality.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with clients and the development team to create intuitive, user-friendly software.

  • Gather requirements, assist or lead user research and make data-driven decisions for the user experience.

  • Develop wireframes, task flows, and more based on user needs.

  • Create low-fidelity UX flows and high-resolution mockups based on the specifications provided by the client, both for mobile applications and websites.

  • Communicate design ideas and prototypes to developers.

  • Work closely with our development teams as part of an Agile development process as product features move from specs to production software.

What We'd Like to See

  • A strong background, with a minimum of 5 years of design experience with mobile and/or desktop.

  • Familiarity with Adobe products (especially XD) and/or design skills using similar tools, such as Sketch, InVision, and Balsamiq.

  • A solid understanding of UX - wireframes, user personas, user flows, user journeys. You know a product needs to be more than just a pretty face, and you fight for the user.

  • Strong teamwork skills— the ability to work with both Project Managers and Developers, experience working with development teams as well as the confidence and skill to communicate your ideas clearly.

  • Direct client interaction experience with the ability to build relationships, understand client vision/direction, and present designs and concepts.

  • An understanding of or experience in Agile software development
